Philosophy

Learning the piano means building a conscious relationship with music.

At Solo Piano, we understand piano learning as an artistic, technical and human process.

Every student begins with a different history, a different set of goals and a different way of learning. For that reason, we value an individual approach, shaped around each person's rhythm, character and motivation.

Musical progress does not depend only on repetition or on the number of hours spent at the instrument. It depends on the gradual construction of skills that help students understand, organise and transform musical information into conscious and expressive playing.

We think of this as the construction of mental frameworks: the ability to recognise patterns, understand relationships, anticipate musical direction and connect gesture, sound and intention. A student is not simply learning pieces; they are learning how to organise music mentally, so they can understand it, practise it and play with growing freedom.

We therefore work not only on technique, but also on attention, listening, autonomy, critical awareness and artistic sensitivity.

Technique has a central place in learning the instrument. Its true value, however, appears when it serves musical understanding and personal expression.

We value learning that is structured but flexible. Demanding, but respectful of the student's individuality. Rigorous, without losing sight of the pleasure of making music.

Principles

Understanding, listening and autonomy.

01

Understand

Organise musical information before turning it into mechanical repetition.

02

Listen

Develop attention to sound, body, gesture and musical intention.

03

Build autonomy

Help students practise better, observe themselves and correct their work with increasing independence.

Paths

The same care, different routes.

For some students, the path may include examinations, recitals or specific academic goals. For others, the piano may be above all a space for personal development and artistic fulfilment. Both approaches deserve the same respect and dedication.

Whatever the path, our purpose remains the same: to help each student build a lasting, meaningful and autonomous relationship with music.
